Introduction to Imari the Super Mom
Hello, my name is Imari.
I am currently a senior majoring in communications. I chose
communications as my major because it is such a broad major. Also, I realized my freshman year of college, rehabilitation science probably wasn't the best route for me
seeing that I can't even change my own band aid without getting grossed
out. I transferred to Smith Christmas of 2017 on a basketball
scholarship. I played on the women's basketball team up until this
following academic year. Before that I had only been playing basketball
for four years. I stopped playing because I ended up having my first child in October of 2019. She is three months now and growing so fast it
is unbelievable. I wouldn't trade being a mother for the world. Out of
all my major accomplishments in life she is the biggest blessing thus
far. So right now, I am a full-time mom and a full-time student,
overloading classes to make sure I graduate in May. It isn't easy but I
am more than determined to get it done.

My favorite television show
would be The Office. I have watched the whole series at least 10 times
now and will still laugh the same at each episode as if it is my first
time seeing it. None of my friends find the show as funny as I do
and just can't understand for the life of me why. I am very diverse when
it comes to music. I would like to credit that to the dancer in me for
appreciating all genres of music. Before I picked up a basketball in the
11th
grade, I was a competitive dancer. I started dancing when I was 3 years
old and fell in love with it at such an early age. I am professionally
trained in tap, modern, ballet, jazz, and contemporary. Dance is without
a doubt my first love. Before I had my daughter, my hobbies included
painting and scrapbooking. I didn’t really have much time to do anything
because I played basketball and that took up the majority of my time.
However, now I really don’t have time to do much aside from planned date
nights that I have. I’d like to get back into the routine of working
out consistently at least three times a day is my goal. Other than that, all of my time and energy goes into my daughter and my
school work which I am completely fine with because I know it will all
be rewarding when I am walking across that stage in May. As far as my
career goals, I’d love to work with any sports team as an athletic
director or anything along the lines of that. I also have short term
career goals that consist of small business opportunities for myself that I
plan on trying to put into fruition closer to the time I am expected to
graduate. My biggest dream goal was to be model of some sort. I am 6’2,
nothing but legs and it has been my biggest dream since I was little. I
called myself a supermom in my title because between my daughter, my
studies, and day to day task I am taking on a lot of task and doing what
I have to do to get everything done.
