Week 14 Reflection: Overseas Affairs

Vietnam was known to be the longest war in American History. It was responsible for 58,000 American injuries and 350,000 American deaths. There were about two billion Vietnamese deaths.    The Unites States supported France in the war against VM while they were trying to gain independence from France. The US funded the French-Indochina War because they wanted materials produced  by Vietnam. Vietnam  was led by Ho Chi Minh who believed in Vietnamese independence. Ho Chi eventually became a communist hoping to promote state control of everything. The overall goal for communism was social equality. The representatives of the communist Party owned the nations resources.    In the second stage of the war the US supported Ngo  Dinh  Diem as the South Vietnam leader against Ho Chi Minh in the North. The Black Freedom movement between the 1950s and 1960s came about because of segregation, disenfranchisement of African A mericans, Economic Inequality, Legal  Discrimination , and  cultural  attitudes . The African American people in America didn’t have the respect of people who practiced mainstream American cul ture.  Black Power became a statement for those upset about the federal  government's  failure to stop violence  against  civil  rights  workers  and civil rights movements failure to have any  impact  on the economic problems of black ghettos. The Black Power  movements main   goal was economic equality, political empowerment and recognition of the value of black culture. Week 8 Reflection: Migrating to Cruelty

The 1920s consist of many things including urbanization, great economic growth,  great  migration of African Americans up north and modernization.    Modernization includes technological advances that resulted in mass production. Automobile production was the most popular form of mass production. At this time the US was in charge of producing almost half of the worlds manufactured goods. They were able to do this because of mass production. With the advances of technology came the rise of corporate profits. However, the wages of the industrial workers did not change. The government supported business so they provided assistance through synergy. Synergy is just the come together of two groups to create something bigger than the one group can create alone. Consumer society grew with mass production which in return increased the middle class. Now these people were buying things because they wanted them, not only because they needed them. Week 7 Reflection: Hand Us that VOTE

The 14 th  amendment was only the beginning in the process of paving the way for women's rights in the late 18 th  and early 19 th  century. There were two specific groups that opposed to including women in the 15 th  amendment, which stated the right to vote would not be denied on the account of race, color, or prior slavery. The National Women’s Suffrage Association, which was led by Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton, opposed to women being included. While the American Women’s Suffrage Association, led by Lucy Stone, supported women being included.  in 1890 both groups merged to create the NAWSA. African American women also saw fit to join the fight for women’s right but were often still treated differently because of their race.
